Otto Dockhorn

Otto Franz Dockhorn (born January 16, 1921 in Wolferstedt ; † October 27, 2004 in Kassel ) was a German educator and politician ( FDP ).

Life

Otto Dockhorn was the son of Frieseur Franz Dockhorn, who was so badly wounded in World War I that he could not practice the profession, and his wife Klara née Vondran. He married on November 13, 1944 in Kirchhain Hannelore born Stoeckigt (born November 8, 1924 in Marburg).

After graduating from high school and participating in World War II , Dockhorn completed a teaching degree. He entered the school service in 1948 and worked as a teacher in Kirchhain . In 1958 he became a teacher and in 1961 rector at the Gerhart Hauptmann School in Kassel . Since 1969 he has been a school councilor in the Kassel district . He had also joined the Education and Science Union (GEW) and had been its deputy state chairman in Hesse since 1967 .

Dockhorn joined the NSDAP on September 1, 1939 at the age of 18 ( membership number 7,189,811). In 1948 he joined the FDP .

From 1968 to 1972 he was council member of the city ​​of Kassel and 1978 council member of the city of Lahn . He was a member of the Hessian state parliament from 1970 until his resignation on January 25, 1973.

Dockhorn was mayor of the city ​​of Gießen from 1973 to 1978 . From December 1978 to July 1984 he was State Secretary in the Ministry of the Interior in the government of the State of Hesse led by Prime Minister Holger Börner .

In 1985 he was awarded the Great Federal Cross of Merit.
