Hillclimb Rossfeld 1964
The mountain race Rossfeld , also Int. Alp Mountain Price, Ross Field , was a mountain race , which was extended on June 7 1964th The race was the eighth round of the sports car world championship this year. The event also opened the European Hill Climb Championship in 1964 .
The race
As in the year before , the race led over the Roßfeldhöhenringstrasse to the Rossfeld . The participants had to drive through the 5.9-kilometer route twice. The victory went to the driver who achieved the best overall time when adding up the times.
After his success in 1963, Edgar Barth remained successful in 1964. Barth drove an Elva Mk. 7 registered by Porsche System Engineering and at the finish was four seconds ahead of Herbert Müller , who drove a Porsche 904/8 . Third place was Joseph Greger in another Elva Mk. 7.
The fastest GT driver was Michel Weber , who won the class for GT cars up to 2 liters in a Porsche 904 GTS and was sixth overall. In the touring car category, Heinz Eppelein achieved success in a BMW 1800 Ti in the 2-liter class. While Weber was almost 22 seconds behind the winner Barth at the finish, Eppelein, who was classified 28th overall, was already more than a minute.
