Johann Abbot

Johann Abt (* December 1935 ; † October 11, 2003 ) was a German motorcycle and automobile racing driver and founder of the Abt Tuning company , which later became the Abt Sportsline racing team .
Motorsport
In 1952 Johann Abt started with a DKW motorcycle and became a contract driver at DKW. In 1955 he was a member of the victorious team at the International Six Day Race . Due to the tight budget, an accident-damaged DKW F91 served as the first own emergency vehicle . Abbot later drove for the Italian Abarth team and won 29 of 30 races in the first year. In total, he drove home over 300 class wins.
Companies
In 1896 Johann Abt's grandfather, who was also called Johann Abt, founded a forge in Kempten (Allgäu) . The resulting car dealership first traded vehicles from DKW, later with Volkswagen and Audi .
In 1962, Abt founded his tuning company and integrated it into the dealership. Cars of the brands Audi, Seat, Škoda and VW are tuned. Since 2000, the Abt-Audis have been mainly active in the DTM .
