The 500 km race of Bridgehampton , also The 1965 Bridgehampton Double 500 for The Edwin H. Krom Memorial Trophy, The Bridgehampton Race Circuit was run in two races on September 19, 1965. The racing event was the 20th round of the sports car world championship this year.

The race

Herb Wetanson in a Porsche 904 GTS won the ranking of racing vehicles up to 2-liter displacement, ahead of Dick Young and George Alderman in a Lotus 23B , as well as Fred Ashplant , who drove a Lotus Elan 26R . In the race for sports cars over 2-liter displacement, Hap Sharp remained successful in the Chaparral 2A . He won ahead of Pedro Rodríguez in a Ferrari 365P2 and Skip Scott and Dick Thompson who drove a Shelby Cobra 427 .
