Racing career

Skip Scott was active in sports car races in the 1960s and was one of the Ford factory drivers who drove the GT40 . Before his involvement with Ford, which began in 1965 and ended after the end of the following season, he drove successfully in the SCCA sports car championship . In 1964, he was together with Ken Miles and John Morton in a Cobra reported by Carroll Shelby , overall runner-up in the 500-mile race of Road America .

Scott started with the Ford GT40 for the crew of the Essex Wire Corporation , 1965 at racing events in North America and 1,966 in the World Sportscar Championship . With his team partner Peter Revson , he finished both the Sebring 12-hour race and the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km race in third place overall. At Le Mans , the duo failed due to engine failure on the GT40 MK.I.

After the end of the collaboration with Ford, the US races were again his field of activity. In 1969 he drove a Lola T70 of Carl Haas and won, among others, together with Chuck Parsons , the 500-mile race at Road America 1968 . It was last used at the 12-hour race at Sebring in 1972 , where the Ferrari 365 GTB / 4 Competizione had to retire after an engine failure.
