The Coppa Cittá di Enna 1965 , also called V. Coppa Citta di Enna , took place on August 16 at the Autodromo di Pergusa in Enna , Sicily , and was the 16th race of the sports car world championship of that year.

The race

In 1965 , the Coppa Cittá di Enna was part of the sports car world championship for the fourth time in a row. Twelve vehicles entered the race, including three Ferrari 250LMs , three 250 GTOs and two Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes . Despite the small number of starters, 100,000 spectators watched the race along the route. An exciting argument developed between Mario Casoni and David Piper in two 250LM, as well as Bob Bondurant in the Shelby Daytona, which Casoni won.

Of the 12 starters, eleven crossed the finish line. The only failure concerned Nino Vaccarella , who had an accident with his 250LM on lap 39.
