Dick Young

Dick Young (* 20th century ) is an American documentary and advertising filmmaker.

Life

Dick Young decided against college after high school and served three years in the United States Air Force . There he learned the film trade when he was stationed in a division that created training videos. After completing his military service, he found a job as a journalist with Life Magazine . During his travels around the world, he repeatedly shot individual news items. Over time, the orders got bigger and bigger and so he made many short films for the film department of the magazine.

After two years he went into business for himself and made numerous advertising films for the United Nations , among others , but also for companies such as the Ford Foundation , IBM , Exxon , Motorola , Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler .

Dick Young was nominated for an Oscar for Best Documentary Short three times in a row : 1980 for Remember Me , 1981 for It's the Same World and 1982 for Journey for Survival .
