Mathieu Hezemans

Mathieu "Thieu" Hezemans (born June 21, 1915 in Eindhoven , † February 4, 1985 ) was a Dutch racing driver and entrepreneur.

Mathieu Hezemans he was the first racing driver from the Dutch Hezemans family. His son Antoine , called Toine, was a successful GT and sports car driver in the 1970s. This was European Touring Car Champion in 1970 and 1973 , won the Targa Florio in 1971 and, among other things, twice the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring and once the Daytona 24-hour race . His grandchildren Mike and Loris Hezemans also took up the profession of professional racing driver.

Career in motorsport

Mathieu Hezemans ran a car dealership in his hometown of Eindhoven and was one of the first Dutch importers of the Porsche brand . He was active as a driver in the 1950s. Has competed several times in the 1000 km race on the Nordschleife of the Nürburgring . In 1953 he was fifteenth overall and in 1956 26th in the final classification. 1956 he went together with Carel Godin de Beaufort one of Wolfgang Seidel reported Porsche 550/4 Spyder at the 24-hour race at Le Mans , fell after a suspension defect but prematurely.
