Norman Simon
Norman Simon (born May 7, 1976 in Wiesbaden ) is a former German racing driver .
Racing career
Norman Simon drove in kart races as a teenager . In 1991 he won the title in the German Junior Kart Championship . (Third place in the championship was Dirk Müller ). About the Formula Ford the career path led Monopostosport in the Formula Opel . In 1996 he and Pierre Kaffer won the Nations Cup for Team Germany. Until 1999 he was active in various Formula 3 series . In 1997 he finished fifth overall in the German Formula 3 Championship, behind Nick Heidfeld , Timo Scheider , Alexander Müller and Wolf Henzler . In 1999 he drove five races in the International Formula 3000 Championship for Coloni Motorsport , but was unsuccessful.
In 2000, Simon switched to sports and touring car racing . He competed in the American Le Mans Series , the FIA GT Championship and in Japan in the Super GT . In 2002 he finished second in the production car class of the British Touring Car Championship, behind James Kaye . Norman Simon started in both the Sebring 12 Hours and the Le Mans 24 Hours , but was unable to place in a total of five races.
