Dirk Müller (born November 18, 1975 in Burbach ) is a German automobile racing driver .

Career

Dirk Müller's first career highlight was winning the Formula 3 race at the Nürburgring in 1996 . In 1998 he won the Daytona 24-hour race in the USA . In 1998 Müller won the Porsche Carrera Cup , and in 2000 the championship in the American Le Mans Series . In the European Touring Car Championship , he was runner-up in 2004. Dirk Müller achieved the same in the following year at the World Touring Car Championship . In 2006 he finished sixth in the World Touring Car Championship. In 2007 Müller became champion of the FIA GT championship (GT2). In the 2008 American Le Mans Series season , he won the race in St. Petersburg on April 5 . The next win in Long Beach followed two weeks later .

Müller is currently a works driver at BMW . In the BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team , he drives a BMW M3 GT2 in the American Le Mans Series . He also takes part in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring and the 24-hour race at Le Mans for BMW Motorsport .

From 2016 he drove for Chip Ganassi Racing GT and sports car races in North America.

Private

Müller has lived in Ermatingen on Lake Constance since 2009 . He has a daughter with his wife Daniela.
