Sebring 12 hour race 2017
The 65th Sebring 12-hour race , also The 65th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh from Florida , took place on March 18 and 19, 2017 at the Sebring International Raceway and was the second IMSA WeatherTech race SportsCar Championship 2017 .
The race
After the narrow defeat at the Daytona 24-hour race , the Action Express Racing team also had to admit defeat at Sebring Wayne Taylor Racing. The duel between the two Cadillac DPi-VR was decided by the pit stops. On the racetrack, the two three-man teams were almost on par for the entire 12-hour race. Wayne Taylor's pit crew was always a few seconds faster than the opponents when changing drivers and tires, as well as making the necessary refueling stops . With the last scheduled refueling 55 minutes before the end of the race, Ricky Taylor came into the pits with a one-second lead over João Barbosa . When both Cadillacs were processed, the time difference was nine seconds. With that the decision was made and Taylor crossed the finish line as the overall winner with a lead of 14 seconds on his brand colleague.
An amazing team of drivers competed for Rebellion Racing to drive their brand new Oreca 07 . To Nick Heidfeld two came LMP1 -Werkspiloten into the team in the FIA World Endurance Championship are competitors. Sébastien Buemi drives a Toyota TS050 Hybrid and Porsche works driver Neel Jani drives a Porsche 919 Hybrid . The car, which had started from pole position , retired after five hours due to an alternator failure. In the GTLM class, it looked like a clear victory for the Ford GT for a long time , before the outstanding driving Antonio García in the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R passed all three Fords and won the class for himself and his teammates Jan Magnussen and Mike Rockenfeller import.
