development
In 2016, the FIA and ACO decided to introduce new LMP2 regulations in 2017. The new LMP2 regulations stipulated that there are only four manufacturers who were allowed to build an LMP2; they were: OnRoak, Dallara, Riley Multimatic and ORECA. There will also be a standard engine from the British engine manufacturer Gibson Technology from 2017. OnRoak already had an LMP2 prototype on offer, the Ligier JS P2 , which, however, did not meet the new regulations. Therefore OnRoak was forced to design a new LMP2, the Ligier JS P217. The Ligier JS P217 was presented during the ELMS race in Spa-Francorchamps 2016. For the DPi class in the IMSA Weathertech United SportsCar Championship, OnRoak also offers the OnRoak Nissan DPi , which was developed together with Nissan Motorsport and is based on the Ligier JS P217.
