Location and building

The meeting room of the Central Committee

The headquarters of the French Communist Party is on a gently sloping plot of land with a triangular floor plan. The lowest point of the property points to the Place du Colonel-Fabien , named after the communist member of the Resistance Pierre Georges .

The office building is placed on five concrete pillars at the rear of the property and conceals the neighboring buildings, some of which are not very attractive. Niemeyer designed the curved facade together with the French architect Jean Prouvé . This was reminiscent of both Niemeyer's design for Edifício Copan , which was completed in 1965, and a waving flag.

The lower level with a large entrance hall is built into the slope and can hardly be seen from the outside. The conference room of the Central Committee is located under the half-sunken dome in the front part of the property.
