Érik Maris (born February 16, 1964 in Lyon ) is a French racing car driver and banker .

Érik Maris studied banking at the École des hautes études commerciales de Paris and, after graduating, joined the Paris branch of the US investment bank Lazard . In 2009 he became managing director of the bank, but left the bank after only one year in this position.

In 2010 he founded the Messier Maris & Associés banking house together with Jean-Marie Messier in Paris .

Racing career

Érik Maris got into motorsport late. At the age of 49, he drove his first international sports car race in the 2013 6-hour race in Austin . He finished this endurance race , which was part of the FIA World Endurance Championship this year , with partners Jacques Nicolet and Jean-Marc Merlin in the Morgan LMP2 in 25th place overall. In a season in the European Le Mans Series in 2014 , where he earned a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR headed, followed in 2015 a commitment to the FIA World Endurance Championship . Maris started with a Ligier JS P2 from OAK Racing . He has been racing in the European Le Mans Series again since 2016.

In 2014 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he has competed five times so far. He was able to classify in all five races, with the best placement in 2017 when he finished fifteenth overall.
