Jacques Nicolet (born April 5, 1956 in Monaco ) is a French businessman and racing car driver .

Business career

He is the founder, shareholder and board member of the real estate company Altarea Cogedim ; Team owner of the motorsport racing team OAK Racing as well as owner and CEO of the chassis manufacturer Onroak Automotive . Nicolet is also active as a racing driver and has competed regularly in the Le Mans 24-hour race since 2007 . From 2012 to 2015 he took part in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

Nicolet worked at Pierre et Vacances from 1984 to 1994 . There he held the positions of program director, development director and deputy managing director. In 1994 he founded the real estate company Altarea Cogedim together with Gilles Boissonnet, Alain Taravella and Stéphane Theuriau , in which he still holds shares to this day. Nicolet held several positions at Altarea Cogedim. From June 26, 2007 to June 2, 2014 he was Chairman of the company's Supervisory Board. Subsequently, Nicolet remained as a member of the supervisory board.

The end of 2006 took over the Nicolet team Saulnier Racing and named him 2009 OAK Racing to. In 2007 Nicolet founded the LMP chassis manufacturer Group Pescarolo Automobiles together with Henri Pescarolo . After Nicolet and Pescarolo ended their cooperation in 2008 and the manufacturer was sold to the Sora Group, OAK Racing took over the production department of Pescarolo Sport at the end of 2009. In 2010, OAK Racing set up its own design department. Nicolet pursued the goal of establishing a new LMP chassis manufacturer on the market and expanded the department in the following years. The manufacturer Onroak Automotive emerged from the construction department of OAK Racing in 2012 . Onroak's LMP vehicles operate under the names Morgan (until 2013) and Ligier (since 2014). Nicolet acts as CEO of Onroak.

Racing career

In 2001, Nicolet began as a hobby driver to take part in motorsport events with historic racing vehicles. Until 2007 he competed in historic races. After buying Saulnier Racing at the end of 2006 , he switched to professional motorsport as a men's driver and competed in the Le Mans Series in an LMP2 vehicle . He formed a team with Alain Filhol and Bruce Jouanny . The three drivers achieved a podium finish with a second place in the LMP2 classification and came fourth in the drivers' classification. In addition, Nicolet made his debut in 2007 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , which he contested with Filhol and Jouanny. In 2008 Nicolet moved to the higher LMP1 class. He was 21st in the Le Mans Series and again took part in the 24 Hours of Le Mans .

In 2009 Nicolet returned to the LMP2 class and renamed his team OAK Racing . In the Le Mans Series he finished the season in seventh place in the LMP2 classification. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans , he achieved third place (overall placing: 20th) together with Richard Hein and Jean-François Yvon a podium finish in the LMP2 class. In addition, Nicolet drove in the Asian Le Mans Series (AsLMS), which was held for the first time . There he won the LMP2 driver title together with Hein and Matthieu Lahaye . In 2010 Nicolet reached third place overall in the LMP2 classification of the Le Mans Series together with Lahaye. At the 24-hour race at Le Mans , he finished ninth in the overall standings with Hein and Yvon and fourth in the LMP2 class. Ninth place in the overall classification represents Nicolet's best overall position in the 24-hour race of Le Mans. In addition, Nicolet competed in the newly founded Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC). Together with Frédéric Da Rocha and Patrice Lafargue, he won the LMP2 class in two of three races. In 2011 Nicolet drove again in the LMP1 class and took part in five races of the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup, including the 24 Hours of Le Mans .

In 2012 Nicolet returned to the LMP2 class and competed with Lahaye and Olivier Pla for OAK Racing in a Morgan LMP2 in the newly founded FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC), which replaced the ILMC. Lahaye was not rated in one race. Nicolet and Pla finished the season with a fourth place as the best result in 20th place in the drivers' world championship. In addition, Nicolet drove in the European Le Mans Series (ELMS), the successor to the Le Mans Series, and was third overall in the LMP2 class, the highest class there. In 2013 , Nicolet competed in his second season in the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship with changing teammates. Initially, only one start was planned in the first three races, but Nicolet competed in every race. With a seventh place as the best result, he reached 21st place in the drivers' world championship.

After a year break returned Nicolet 2015 in the FIA World Endurance Championship back. He drives the new Ligier JS P2 from his company Onroak Automotive together with his friends Érik Maris and Jean-Marc Merlin . After the 24-hour race at Le Mans , the three withdrew from the world championship.
