Bahrain 6 hour race 2012
The 2012 6 Hours of Bahrain , also known as 6 Hours of Bahrain, Bahrain , took place on September 29 at the Bahrain International Circuit and was the sixth round of the FIA World Endurance Championship that year.
The race
As in the previous championship races, two Audi R18s (in Bahrain, Joest Racing reported two R18 e-tron quattro) competed with a Toyota TS030 Hybrid . In qualifying, Allan McNish , who set a fastest time of 1: 45.814 minutes, was 0.5 seconds faster than Nicolas Lapierre in third-placed Toyota.
In the race, Alexander Wurz managed to overtake both Audis in a short time. After two hours of racing, the Toyota was one minute ahead when Lapierre was called to the pits by the race management to repair the start number lighting. Replacing the lamps threw the Toyota back in sixth place. One hour before the end of the race, the car broke down after a collision while lapping. The two Audis soon sorted themselves in the order starting number 1 before number 2. At the finish, André Lotterer , Benoît Tréluyer and Marcel Fässler had a 1½ minute lead over teammates Tom Kristensen and Allan McNish .
