John Kenneth Martin (born July 8, 1984 in Gosford ) is an Australian racing driver .

Career

Like most motorsport enthusiasts , Martin began his career in karting , where he was active from 2001 to 2004. He then switched to formula racing in 2005 . He immediately won the Australian Formula Ford Victoria Championship and was runner-up in the Australian Formula Ford New South Wales Championship. He also competed in six Australian Formula Ford races and finished tenth overall with two wins at the end of the season. In 2006 Martin put his main focus on the Australian Formula Ford and won the championship title of this series with eight wins. He also competed as a guest driver in the British Formula Ford and crossed the finish line first in one race.

In 2007 Martin switched to the British Formula 3 championship for Alan Docking Racing , for which he had already competed in the British Formula Ford. With a fourth place as the best result, he finished 15th overall. After starting half a season in the A1 Grand Prix for the Australian team in the winter of 2007/2008 , he contested his second season in the British Formula 3 championship for Raikkonen Robertson Racing in 2008 . The Australian was able to score points in a number of races and finished 13th in the drivers' championship at the end of the season. He also won the Australian Formula 3 Indy F3 Challenge that year .

After taking part in the A1GP again in winter 2008/2009 and achieving three fourth places as the best results, Martin switched to the Superleague Formula in 2009 and started for the Glasgow Rangers team, which was supervised by Alan Docking Racing . He finished two races in second place and finished tenth in the championship with his team at the end of the season. In addition, he participated in a total of seven races of the 2009 season of the World Series by Renault in part and has been for Comtec Racing starting 22nd in the standings. In 2010 he will contest his second season in the Superleague Formula. After starting the first race weekend for the Atlético Madrid team , which is supervised by the Alpha Team , he switched to the Beijing Guoan team, which is supervised by Alan Docking Racing. After the first three race weekends, a third place is his best result.
