Gosford
Gosford is a coastal city in the Australian state of New South Wales and is located in the catchment area of Sydney about 50 kilometers north of the city center. Gosford is the center of the Central Coast between Sydney and Newcastle and the Hunter Valley and part of the Sydney Metropolitan Area ( Sydney Statistical Division ).
history
Gosford was founded in the 1830s and was not declared a city until 1980. Today it has over 160,000 inhabitants. Gosford is not only the commercial center of the Central Coast region, but is also central to the numerous tourist attractions in the area such as Brisbane Water National Park and is therefore a magnet for the residents of the metropolis of Sydney.
The Gosford Anglican Church received media attention for its unconventional approaches to pastoral care.
Gosford is also home to the Central Coast Stadium , the home ground of the Central Coast Mariners , Australian first division football team , champions 2013 and runners-up from 2006, 2008 and 2011.
Gosford is largely identical to the local government area of Gosford City .
Gosford's twin cities are Edogawa in Japan and Nitra in Slovakia .
