Coordinates: 33 ° 26 ′ S , 151 ° 13 ′ E Gosford City was a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area was 940 km² and had about 162,000 inhabitants.
Gosford was in the Central Coast region of the state and joined the metropolis of Sydney in the south . The area comprised 101 districts and towns, including Avoca Beach, Bensville, Booker Bay, Erina, Ettalong, Glenworth Valley, Gosford , Greengrove, Killcare, Kincumber, Koolewong, MacMasters Beach, Mangrove Mountain, Mooney Mooney, Patonga, Pearl Beach, Terrigal, Wamberal, Wyoming, Woy Woy, Yattalunga and parts of Holgate and Somersby. The seat of the City Council was in Gosford in the east of the LGA.

The Gosford City Council had ten members who were elected by LGA residents. Gosford was not subdivided into districts. The mayor of the council was also recruited from among the councilors.
