Matthieu Lahaye (born November 23, 1984 in Rennes ) is a French racing car driver .

Career in motorsport

After starting out in karting , where Lahaye was active from 1995 to 2001, he joined monopostos in 2002 and was second overall in the French Formula Ford championship that same year . After two years in Formula Renault , he switched to touring and sports car racing in 2005 .

Between 2005 and 2008 he competed in the Eurocup Mégane Trophy . The best finish in this racing series was second place behind Jaap van Lagen in 2006. In 2008 he returned to Saulnier Racing , Serge Saulnier's racing team . He had already been active for the racing team during his monoposto time; now he competed for the team in various Le Mans racing series. He drove in the European Le Mans Series from 2008 and won the LMP2 final classification of the Asian Le Mans Series in 2009 together with Jacques Nicolet and Richard Hein on a Pescarolo 01 .

In 2008 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he has participated in four races so far. He twice finished the race on the podium in the LMP2 class. In 2008 he was third in class (18th overall) with Cheng Cong Fu and Pierre Ragues . In 2010 he finished the race as a partner of Guillaume Moreau and Jan Charouz as overall seventh. The class win achieved by Nick Leventis , Danny Watts and Jonny Kane on an HPD ARX-01C was six laps short of the finish.

Further outings in the Le Mans Series and the International GT Open followed in the 2010s . Since 2013, his engagements have been limited to an irregular appearance in the V de V Michelin Endurance Series . From 2013 he started again regularly in the Le Mans Series.
