Ukrainian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Ukrainian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church (Ukrainian Українська правовірна греко-католицька церква, Ukrajinskaja prawowirna HREKO-katolyzka Tserkva ) is an independent Christian church in Ukraine , which in 2009 by the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church seceded.

Names

Actually, the name should be given as Ukrainian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church (from правоверно = orthodox and not православно = orthodox , in right doctrine ). The official English translation, however, is consistently Ukrainian Orthodox Greek-Catholic Church , which is misleading as the religious community does not belong to either the Ukrainian Orthodox or the Greek Catholic Church.

history

The church was founded on August 11, 2009 by several priests of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church from the Pidhirtsi Eparchy . She rejects the Greek Catholic and Roman Catholic Church in their current situation, as they have become heretical through syncretism , occultism , the acceptance of homosexuality and through erroneous ecumenism .

On April 7, 2011, they founded the Byzantine Catholic Patriarchate . Eliáš Antonín Dohnal was elected the first patriarch. They confessed to Sedisvakantismus , which says that the Holy See in Rome was de facto vacant at this time, since the then Pope Benedict XVI. excommunicated himself through heretical behavior just like his predecessors. They called on all Roman Catholic priests to break away from Ratzinger.

On February 22, 2012, the four bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Greek Catholic Church were excommunicated by the Holy See.
