Nick Leventis (born January 31, 1980 in London ) is a former British car racing driver and racing team owner.

Racing career

Nick Leventis was born in the London borough of Kensington and received his education at Harrow School . In his younger years he was a successful alpine skier specializing in downhill skiing . A back injury ended his professional ambitions. In 2003 he turned to motorsport and initially competed in races with historic racing vehicles. The greatest success during this phase of his career was third place in the Ferrari 330P3 in the legend race as part of the 2007 Le Mans 24-hour race .

In 2007, the driver's career began in professional motorsport, with a second place overall with Peter Hardman in the Aston Martin DBR9 at the 6-hour race in Vallelunga .

Strakka Racing

In autumn 2007 Nick Leventis founded his own racing team, Strakka Racing , in which he was also active as a driver from 2008. With the team he was involved in the Le Mans Series at the end of the 2000s . He made his debut at the Spa-Francorchamps 1000 km race in 2008 with Peter Hardman in the Aston Martin DBR9. The duo finished the race that Marc Gené , Nicolas Minassian and Jacques Villeneuve won in the Peugeot 908 HDi FAP in 24th place overall. After some good placings in the overall classification - fifth in the 1000 km race of Catalonia in 2009 and seventh in the 8 hours of Le Castellet in 2010 - he won the 1000 km race together with Danny Watts and Jonny Kane in the HPD ARX-01c at the Hungaroring 2010 .

With the start of the FIA World Endurance Championship in 2012 , Leventis and his team switched to this racing series, in which he remained active until 2016 . After that, the team and drivers started in the Blancpain Endurance Series .

Nick Leventis made his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2008 . His best placement in eight race starts so far was fifth in 2010 . This classification was synonymous with victory in the LMP2 class.

At the 8 Hours of California in October 2018, Leventis gave a positive doping test for two anabolic steroids . The FIA banned him for four years, after which he announced his resignation.
