The World Endurance Championship in 2016 (officially 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship ) was the fifth season of FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). The season consisted of nine races. It began on April 17th at Silverstone and ended on November 19th in as-Sachir .

Racing calendar
The FIA World Endurance Championship includes nine races for the first time in 2016. The 6-hour race in Mexico City will be a new addition . This is the first time that a race will take place in Mexico .
Ratings
Drivers world championship
For the World Endurance Drivers' Championship , all drivers were eligible for a Le Mans prototype . The points were awarded according to the following system. There was also a bonus point for the drivers who were on pole position in the LMP class. All vehicles that were evaluated received 0.5 points. At the highlight of the season, the Le Mans 24-hour race, double points were awarded.

There was also a bonus point for the drivers who were on pole position in the GT class. All vehicles that were evaluated received 0.50 points. At the highlight of the season, the Le Mans 24-hour race, double points were awarded.
