Patrick Pilet (born October 8, 1981 in Auch ) is a French racing car driver .

Racing career

Patrick Pilet was already a successful kart driver as a teenager . At the age of 13 he won the Trophee Jérôme Bernard and the French Minime Championship in 1994 . The switch to monoposto sport was also successful. In 2001 he won the overall ranking of the junior formula France and after finishing second overall in 2003 he clinched overall victory in the French Formula Renault championship in 2004 ahead of Yann Clairay , Guillaume Moreau , Jérôme D'Ambrosio , Laurent Groppi , Simon Pagenaud and Romain Grosjean . After two seasons in the World Series by Renault , Pilet switched to GT racing in 2007.

Pilet became a team member in the racing team of Raymond Narac , one of the largest Porsche dealers in France, and in 2007 won the Porsche Carrera Cup France . In 2008, Pilet became a Porsche works driver and in the following years he competed in the International GT Open , the American Le Mans Series and the FIA World Endurance Championship . By the end of the 2015 season, the Frenchman had 10 overall and 7 class wins. One of his greatest successes was the overall victory at the Petit Le Mans 2015 , through which he won the GTLM class of the United SportsCar Championship 2015 .

At the 24 Hours of Le Mans , his best placings were 17th in the final classification in 2010 , 2011 and 16th in 2013 .

Patrick Pilet is married to the French TV journalist Guenaelle Longy .
