Laurent Groppi

Laurent Groppi (born January 19, 1983 in Thonon-les-Bains ) is a French racing driver .

Career

Laurent Groppi began his career, like so many racing drivers of his generation, in karting . In 2002 he won the overall ranking of the French elite kart championship and in 2003 he entered the Campus France Formula Renault championship and was also able to win the overall ranking in this racing series. This was followed by three years in the French Formula Renault 2.0 series. In 2006 he got out of the series again after three years and the championship title in his last season.

In 2007 he switched to touring and sports car racing. He was a works driver at ORECA and, with their Saleen S7-R, came second overall in the French GT championship. In the same year he made his debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours, finishing 10th overall . In 2009 he signed a contract with Larbre Compétition and - after a year in the Le Mans Series - is back in the French GT championship in 2010.
