Raymond Narac (born March 3, 1964 in Caudebec-en-Caux ) is a French entrepreneur, racing team owner and racing car driver .

Career as a racing driver and team boss

Raymond Narac's career is closely linked to the Porsche brand and the French insurance company Matmut . Daniel Havis , the CEO of the company was met with motorsport and Narac in the search for a marketing platform for the insurance of 2003. The two signed a sponsorship contract that lasted from 2004 until the end of the 2015 season, then Matmut ended his involvement in motorsport.

Narac founded a racing team in 2001 under the name IMSA Performance , which did not initially develop any racing activities. Only with the support of Matmut did the racing team, now known as IMSA Performance Matmut , become active. Almost the entire driving career of Narac took place in his own racing team. Exceptions were, among other things, outings for Oreca on a Saleen S7R in the French GT Championship 2007 and the start of the 500 km race in Bahrain in 2005 on a Ferrari 550 GTS Maranello from Larbre Compétition .

He contested his first full racing season in 2004 in the French GT Championship, which he finished fifth overall. By the end of the 2015 season he won the overall ranking of this championship three times; In 2007 together with Soheil Ayari in front of Oreca as well as in 2014 with Nicolas Armindo and in 2015 with Sébastien Dumez and Olivier Pernaut .

In 2005 he made his debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans , where he competed continuously as a driver until 2014 . When he raced for the first time, Romain Dumas and Sébastien Dumez were his partners in the Porsche 996 GT3 RSR . The trio finished the race in 15th place overall. Narac clinched two class wins at Le Mans. In 2007 he won the GT2 class by placing 15th in the overall standings with Patrick Long and Richard Lietz . In 2013 he was 26th in the overall ranking and won the LMGTE-Am class with racing partners Christophe Bourret and Jean Karl Vernay .

In 2011 and 2012 he won the final classification of the GTE-Am class of the European Le Mans Series . By the end of the 2015 season, Narac had achieved 17 overall and 25 class wins in GT and sports car racing .
