The 63rd Sebring 12 Hours of Sebring , also the 63rd Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring Fueled by Fresh From Florida , took place on March 21, 2015 at the Sebring International Raceway and was the second round of the United SportsCar Championship 2015 .

Before the race

As in the previous year that began United SportsCar Championship with the 24 Hours of Daytona , which in this year with the total victory of Scott Dixon , Tony Kanaan , Kyle Larson and Jamie McMurray in one of Chip Ganassi Racing reported Riley MkXXVI ended.

The race

In contrast to the race of the previous year , when there was a surprise winner due to a flood of caution phases , the dominant racing team won in 2015. The Chevrolet Corvette DP driven by João Barbosa , Christian Fittipaldi and Sébastien Bourdais was in the lead for 246 of the 340 race laps . After a 12-hour drive, the trio had extended a one-lap lead over Max Angelelli's Corvette DP and Wayne Taylor's sons , Ricky and Jordan . Richard Westbrook , Michael Valiante and Mike Rockenfeller , who drove another Corvette, came third overall .

The LMP2 prototypes , which were superior in training, all experienced a black day in the race. During training, Olivier Pla drove the fastest qualifying lap in the Krohn-Racing- Ligier JS P2 with a time of 1: 51.152. Pla also led at the start of the race. After team and car owner Tracy Krohn took over the Ligier, it quickly fell far behind. In the course of the race, Krohn also had a collision while lapping, which meant that overall victory was unattainable. Michael Shank Racing's Ligier, who was fourth in Justin Wilson's training, had an accident with Oswaldo Negri at the wheel after just one hour. The car could be repaired, but it was hopelessly behind at the destination. The two HPD ARX-03b also failed prematurely.
