Conor Daly (born December 15, 1991 in Noblesville , Indiana ) is an American racing driver . He won the Star Mazda Series in 2010 . He started in the GP3 series from 2011 to 2013 . He has been competing in the IndyCar Series since 2013 .

His father is former racing car driver Derek Daly .

Daly began his motorsport career in karting at the age of ten and remained active in the sport until 2010. In parallel, he made his debut in formula racing in the winter of 2006/2007 and was 44th in the Skip Barber Southern Regional Series . In the 2007 season, Daly competed in several formula series. He was most successful in the Skip Barber Eastern Regional Series , in which he was seventh with four wins in six starts. He also competed in four races in the Skip Barber National Championship and was 22nd in the drivers' championship. In 2008 he stayed in the Skip Barber National Championship and won 5 of 14 races. At the end of the season he prevailed against Josef Newgarden and was champion with 388 to 372 points. He also competed in the Ontario Formula Ford F1600 and was third in the drivers' championship with five wins.

In 2009 Daly moved to the Star Mazda Series for Andersen Racing . He won a race and finished the season in third place in the championship. The following season he moved to Juncos Racing within the Star Mazda Series . Daly won 7 of 13 races, finishing in the top four pilots in each race. He decided the title duel against Anders Krohn with 539 to 460 points clearly for himself.

In 2011 Daly competed for Carlin in the European GP3 series . With three point placements, he finished the season on the 17th championship course. In addition, Daly participated in five races of the Indy Lights for Sam Schmidt Motorsports in part. After leading the championship with a win in the meantime, he finished 13th overall at the end of the season. In 2012 Daly switched to ART Grand Prix within the GP3 series , the championship team of the previous season, which competed as the Lotus GP . Daly won a race and stood on the podium five times. He finished the season in sixth place overall, defeating his teammates Daniel Abt and Aaro Vainio , who finished second and fourth, respectively.

After Daly had completed GP3, GP2 and IndyCar test drives in winter , he initially received a cockpit for the season opener of the GP2 series at Hilmer Motorsport . He scored points with a seventh place. Then Daly returned to the GP3 series, where he stayed at ART. In Valencia he won the main race. He finished the 2013 season in third place overall with 126 points. He was between his teammates Facu Regalía and Jack Harvey , who had scored 138 and 114 points respectively. In addition, debuted Daly in 2013 in the IndyCar Series for AJ Foyt Enterprises and participated in the Indianapolis 500 in 2013 in part. In the USA he also completed a race in the Indy Lights for the Moore Racing team . He was third.

In 2014 Daly drove in the GP2 series at the Venezuela GP Lazarus . He paused for two events and finished 26th overall. He also took part in a race in the United SportsCar Championship (USCC) 2014 for RSR Racing . In 2015 Daly is without a full-time cockpit. In the IndyCar Series 2015 he jumped at Dale Coyne Racing as a replacement for the injured Rocky Moran jr. and took part in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach . He then received a cockpit for the Indianapolis 500 at Schmidt Peterson Motorsports and then shared the Schmidt-Peterson cockpit of the injured James Hinchcliffe with Ryan Briscoe . Daly represented Hinchcliffe in three races. Daly also competed in a number of races in the 2015 United SportsCar Championship and finished eighth in the Prototype Challenge.

For the IndyCar Series 2016 , Daly received a full-time cockpit at Dale Coyne Racing. In Detroit he achieved his first IndyCar podium with a second place. He finished the season in 18th position in the overall standings.

Conor Daly's father Derek Daly is a former Irish car racing driver who competed in Formula 1 and CART series, among others . Unlike his father, Conor Daly is a US citizen.
