Facundo "Facu" Regalía (born November 23, 1991 in Buenos Aires ) is a former Argentine - Spanish racing driver . He finished second overall in the GP3 series in 2013 .

Career

Regalía began his motorsport career in karting in 2006 , in which he remained active until 2007. In 2008 he joined the Formula racing and went for Euro International in the European Formula BMW at. While his teammate Daniel Juncadella finished fourth with victories, Regalia finished his debut season in 16th place overall. In 2009 he switched to Josef Kaufmann Racing within the series . Three fourths were his best results and he was eighth at the end of the season while his team-mate Robin Frijns took third. He also made three guest starts in the Pacific Formula BMW. He came home twice in first place. In 2010 Regalia contested its third season in the European Formula BMW for Eifelland Racing . With a second place, which was also his best result, he achieved a podium finish for the first time. In the overall standings he was again eighth and was again defeated by his teammate with Côme Ledogar this season .

In 2011 Regalia switched to the Italian Formula 3 championship at Arco Motorsport . A second place was his best result of the season. With 55 points he was tenth overall at the end of the season, while his teammate Edoardo Liberati had achieved fifth place with 115 points. Regalia also took part in a Formula 3 Euro Series race weekend as a guest starter for Mücke Motorsport . After the season he completed auto GP test drives for Campos Racing . He managed to beat the pole position time from the previous season on the Ricardo Tormo Circuit . For the Auto GP World Series season 2012 he was finally given a cockpit at Campos. After the first five events, Regalia left the series. With a second place as the best result, he finally finished seventh overall. Although he did not take part in all races, he scored more points than his teammates combined. Regalia also competed for Campos Racing in the European F3 Open . There he was fourth overall with three wins. In addition, he started for two GP3 series events for various teams .

In 2013 Regalia switched completely to the GP3 series and received a cockpit at ART Grand Prix , the championship team of the previous season. After he failed to score points at the season opener, he only failed to score points in the following races. He won the main race at the Nürburgring . Regalia went into the final race weekend of the season as overall leader. In this, however, he remained without points and fell behind Daniil Kwjat in the overall standings . Regalia lost to him with 138 to 168 points and was second overall. In 2014 , Regalia started for Hilmer Motorsport in the GP2 series . After Regalia had never been better than 17th place in the first four events, he left Hilmer in an argument. Both parties blamed each other for the poor performance. Since Hilmer Motorsport insisted on compliance with the contract, Regalia was not used for any other team or in another series during the further course of the season. At the end of the season he finished 31st overall. He was also a development driver at the Formula 1 racing team Force India .

In 2015 Regalia planned to compete in the Formula Renault 3.5 for Zeta Corse . However, he switched to Comtec Racing before the start of the season . However, he did not race for this racing team either. Regalia also registered for an event of the European Formula 3 Championship for EuroInternational . However, he decided not to take part in the races.

At the age of eight, Regalia moved to Madrid with his family . Before he was active in motorsport, he played in a Real Madrid youth football team .

Regalia started his career with a Spanish racing license. Since 2010 he has been competing with an Argentine license.
