Rusty Mitchell

Rusty Mitchell (born November 29, 1982 in Midland , Texas ) is an American racing driver . He took part in several Indy Lights races in 2011 .

Career

Like most motor sportsmen , Mitchell began his career in karting . In 2007 he switched to the single-seater racing in the Formula Enterprise . He won the June Sprints and the Southwest Division Championship in his first season . In 2008 he was runner-up in the Southwest Division. He won every race he competed in. He also made his debut with his own racing team in the Star Mazda Series . He started nine out of twelve races and finished the season in 17th place overall. Another season in the Star Mazda Series followed in 2009. He started from pole position once and was on the podium in one race. He finished twelfth in the overall standings. In 2010, Mitchell completed his third season in the Start Mazda Series for his team. With fourth place as the best result, he improved to ninth place in the overall ranking. His team merged with Juncos Racing that season .

In 2011, Mitchell moved to Team E in the Indy Lights . He competed in a total of six races and was 14th in the drivers' championship. He also completed a race for Intersport Racing in the LMPC class of the American Le Mans Series (ALMS).
