Gustavo Menezes

Gustavo Menezes (born September 19, 1994 ) is an American racing car driver . He started in the European Formula 3 championship in 2014 and 2015 .

Career

Menezes began his motorsport career in karting in 2002 , where he remained active until 2010. He won several US championships and was a works driver for Tony Kart . In 2010 he also made his debut in formula racing and competed in two races in the Pacific F2000 . In 2011 Menezes moved to Juncos Racing in the Star Mazda Championship . With a third place, he finished the season in eighth place overall. In addition, he took part in several races of two racing series for Interwetten Racing in Europe. In the Alpine Formula Renault he was 18th overall, in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he reached 37th overall. In 2012 Menezes moved to Team Pelfrey in the Star Mazda Championship . While his teammate Jack Hawksworth won the championship, he was ninth in the overall standings. In the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup he made two guest starts for Fortec Motorsports .

In 2013 Menezes switched to Van Amersfoort Racing in the German Formula 3 Cup . He won two races and was on the podium a total of eight times. He finished the season as the best rider who had not driven for Motoparc Academy , in fourth place in the drivers' standings. In addition, he contested an American Le Mans Series (ALMS) race in a sports car prototype for RSR Racing . In 2014 Menezes stayed with Van Amersfoort Racing and received a cockpit in the European Formula 3 championship . With two third places, he achieved two podium finishes. While his team-mate Max Verstappen came third with ten wins, Menezes was eleventh overall at the end of the season. In 2014 Menezes also took part in a race for RSR Racing in the newly established United SportsCar Championship (USCC). In 2015 Menezes started for Jagonya Ayam with Carlin in the European Formula 3 championship. With two fourth places as the best results, he was 13th in the drivers' standings.
