Elhaida Dani (born February 17, 1993 in Shkodër ) is an Albanian singer . She represented her home country Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2015 in Vienna , Austria .

life and career

Elhaida Dani was born on February 17, 1993 in the Albanian city of Shkodra. In 2008 she took part in the Kënga Magjike Festival , in 2009 she won the talent show Star Akademi . In 2012 she won the talent show Top Fest , in 2012 she took part in the Italian version of the talent show The Voice and won it in May 2013. Also in 2013, she released her first single Baciami e Basta with the Universal Music label . She had her first appearance on Albanian soil after The Voice in the theater of her hometown Shkodra at an event of the madrasa Haxhi Sheh Shamia , where she performed the song Ya Nabi Salam Alayka by Maher Zain wearing a headscarf .

On December 28, 2014 the singer clearly won the 53rd  Festivali i Këngës with the song Diell and was thus able to represent Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna in 2015 with this song. On February 24th, Dani announced that she would compete with a new song in Vienna because the author of Diell had withdrawn the entry from the competition. The Kosovar duo Zzap and Chris wrote a new title for Elhaida called I'm Alive .

At the Eurovision Song Contest she qualified for the final, where she reached 17th place.

Since 2016 she can be seen in the touring production of the musical Notre Dame de Paris .
