Herciana Matmuja or Hersi (born February 1, 1990 in Kukës ) is an Albanian singer .

Career

Herciana's family moved to Tirana when she was young . She has been singing since she was eight and had television appearances as a child. She took part in numerous music competitions for young people. In 2005 she passed the entrance exam for the art academy in Tirana  . Since 2005 she has been studying classical singing in Rome , where two of her aunts live and where she is currently also living.

In 2006 Hersi took part in the Festivali i Këngës , the most important music competition in Albania, for the first time . She was tenth and best young talent. In 2010 she reached eleventh place at the Festivali i Këngës . She was less successful in 2011 when she missed points with the song Aty ku më le . In 2012, Hersi came third at the 51st Festivali i Këngës with the song Kush ta dha këtë emër? . In 2011 and 2012 she also participated in the television show Kënga Magjike  .

On December 28, 2013 she won the 52nd Festivali i Këngës . As the winner, she represented Albania with the song Zemërimi i një nate (Wrath of the Night) at the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen . The song is a mixture of Pop and R 'n' B . In Copenhagen she sang the song in English under the title One Night's Anger in the first semifinals. However, she missed the finals.
