Arilena Macaw

Arilena Ara (also only known by her first name Arilena ; born July 17, 1998 in Shkodra ) is an Albanian singer who was supposed to represent her country with the song Shaj ( German  insult ) at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam . However, the competition had to be canceled on March 18, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic .

life and career

As a child, Arilena Ara took part in Gjeniu i Vogël ("Little Genius") - a singing competition for children - in 2010 , in which she was able to achieve third place.

As a 14-year-old she won the second season of the Albanian version of X-Factor 2012 and achieved great popularity in her country. She dedicated the victory to her father, who had died a few months earlier.

A year later she presented her first single Airplane to the audience on the following season of X-Faktor on TV Klan .

In 2016, Arilena took part in the Kënga Magjike singing competition; her song Nëntori (November) was named best ballad .

From January to April 2019 she was - together with Miriam Cani - a juror and coach at The Voice Kids Albania 3 . In December of the same year she won the Festivali i Këngës , which she qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest.
