The X Factor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The X Factor is a global music competition - television show franchise founded by British producer Simon Cowell and his company Syco . The show has its origins in the United Kingdom (see The X Factor (United Kingdom) ), where it was developed as a replacement for Pop Idol (2001-2003) and then adapted in various countries. The “X factor” in the title refers to the unknown “certain something” that is required for star quality. The prize for the winner is usually a record deal, in addition to the notoriety that appearances on the show generate for the candidates.

concept

The X Factor was invented and produced by British music and TV producer Simon Cowell. The similarities between the casting formats of Pop Idol and The X Factor were later tried in court in a lawsuit that Cowell won.

The main differences to the Pop-Idol-Format exist in addition to a different corporate design in the possibility of competition participation for candidates over 30 years of age and for (vocal) groups. The minimum age is 14 years (16 in the first three seasons). The candidates are assigned to three (from the fourth season four) participant categories (up to 24 years, from the fourth season separated according to female and male candidates; from 25 years; groups). Each category is supervised by one of the jury members.
