Folkmar Bornemann

Folkmar A. Bornemann (born May 28, 1967 in Berlin ) is a German professor of mathematics at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

From 1986 to 1989 Folkmar Bornemann studied mathematics and physics at the Free University of Berlin . In 1989 he completed his studies in mathematics with a diploma and obtained his doctorate in 1991 under Peter Deuflhard at the FU Berlin ( An Adaptive Multi-level Approach to Parabolic Equations in Two Space Dimensions ). In 1997 he completed his habilitation.

In 1990 Bornemann became a research assistant at the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum Berlin and in 1992 a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin . From 1994 to 1998 he headed the Center for Numerical Analysis and Modeling at the Konrad-Zuse-Zentrum. Bornemann was also a visiting researcher at the Courant Institute for Mathematical Sciences at New York University from 1996 to 1997 .

Folkmar Bornemann has been Professor of Numerical Mathematics and Scientific Computing at the Technical University of Munich since 1998 . He was also Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics from 2004 to 2007 .
