Ed Brown

Edward "Ed" M. Brown (born January 18, 1963 in Denver , Colorado ) is an American businessman and racing driver .

He is the CEO of the spirits company The Patrón Spirits Company . In motor racing, he was active in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2015 .

Career

Brown worked in liquor distribution for a long time . In 2000, Brown became CEO of the spirits company Patrón . During his time as CEO, he managed to develop the Tequila brand Patrón into a premium spirit.

In 2008 Brown made his professional motorsport debut . He competed in the IMSA Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge and was 25th in the drivers' championship with Orbit Racing . In 2009, Brown improved to 16th championship place in the GT3 Cup, which was sponsored by his liquor company that year. He also made his debut in the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) and finished fifth in the Challenge class.

In 2010, Brown founded the Extreme Speed ​​Motorsports team together with racing driver Scott Sharp . Brown drove with Guy Cosmo in the GT class of the American Le Mans Series. The two drivers achieved 13th place in the final ranking. In 2011 Brown stayed in the American Le Mans Series and finished 20th in the GT class with changing teammates. He also took part in a race in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge for BGB Motorsports . In 2012, Brown completed his third ALMS season for Extreme Speed ​​Motorsports. He finished this in 15th place in the GT classification. He also contested two races each in the Rolex Sports Car Series and the Ferrari Challenge North America .

In 2013, Brown switched to an LMP2 racing car from Extreme Speed ​​Motorsports in the ALMS. Johannes van Overbeek was his team-mate in every race. The duo finished seventh in the P2 ranking. Brown also competed in one race in the Rolex Sports Car Series and three races in the Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Championship . In 2014 , the ALMS and the Rolex Sports Car Series merged to form the United SportsCar Championship (USCC). Together with van Overbeek, Brown won the Prototype competition once. At the end of the season, the two finished eighth. He also competed in the IMSA Cooper Tires Prototype Lites . Brown also made two guest starts in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC).

In 2015 Extreme Sports Motorsports entered the FIA ​​World Endurance Championship on a full-time basis with Brown. Jon Fogarty was his teammate at every race. The third driver was David Brabham and van Overbeek. As part of the WEC, Brown also made his debut at the Le Mans 24-hour race in 2015 . Brown and Fogarty finished the season in 21st place overall. In addition, Brown competed in two USCC races in 2015.
