Jonathan "Jon" Fogarty (born May 23, 1975 in Palo Alto ) is an American racing driver .

Racing career

Jon Fogarty began his career in 1998 in the Barber Dodge Pro Series , a US American monoposto youth series. In 2000 he finished the season in this series behind Nilton Rossoni in second place overall. After a year in the Indy Lights , he was the overall winner of the Atlantic Championship in 2002, ahead of Michael Valiante and Alex Gurney . After another overall win in the 2004 series (this time ahead of Ryan Dalziel and Danica Patrick ), he switched to GT and sports car racing at the start of the 2005 season .

He became a regular starter in the American Le Mans - and the Grand-Am Sports Car Series and their successor series, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship . By the end of the 2015 racing season, he was able to celebrate 16 overall victories in 132 starts. He scored his first victory in the 400-km race in Mexico City in 2007 , with his partner Alex Gurney in Riley Mk.XI of GAINSCO Bob Stallings Racing . His last success so far was the overall victory in the 2013 2.45-hour race in Austin .

In 2007 and 2009 he won the overall ranking of the Grand-Am Sports Car Series. In 2015 , he finished his only 24-hour race at Le Mans so far in 15th place overall.
