Frédéric Makowiecki (born November 22, 1980 in Arras ) is a French racing driver . He has been driving in the FIA GT1 World Championship since 2010 and also competes in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2012 .

Career

After Makowiecki began his motorsport career in karting , he first switched to formula racing in 2000 and was fourth in the B-class of the French Formula 3 championship . After not taking part in a racing series for two years, he returned to motorsport in 2003 and finished 32nd in the French GT championship and ninth in the French Porsche Carrera Cup . While he only competed in the French Porsche Carrera Cup in 2004 and finished the championship in third place, in 2005 he only competed in the French GT championship and finished sixth.

In 2006 Makowiecki was runner-up behind Anthony Beltoise in the French Porsche Carrera Cup. He also started this season in the FIA GT3 European Championship and finished 21st overall at the end of the season. He also made his debut in the FIA GT Championship , where he competed in a race. In 2007 Makowiecki finished second overall in the French Porsche Carrera Cup , this time behind Patrick Pilet . He was also fifth in the French GT Championship and tenth in the FIA ​​GT3 European Championship. In 2008 he finished the French Porsche Carrera Cup in fourth place overall and repeated tenth place in the FIA ​​GT3 European Championship. He also finished eighth in the French GT championship and started again in a race in the FIA ​​GT championship. He also made his debut in the Le Mans Series , in which he was sixth in the LMGT1 classification, and in the ADAC GT Masters , in which he won a race as a guest starter.

In 2009 Makowiecki won three races of the French Porsche Carrera Cup and was third in this series. In the FIA ​​GT3 European Championship, he achieved his best overall position to date with fourth place overall. He was also 19th in the GT2 classification of the FIA ​​GT Championship and 31st in the International GT Open . In 2010 Makowiecki competed for Hexis AMR in an Aston Martin DBR9 in the new FIA GT1 World Championship . With changing teammates, he won the qualification race twice and the championship race once. In the driver's world championship he was third. He also managed to win the championship title in the French Porsche Carrera Cup this season. In the FIA ​​GT3 European championship he was fifth, in the French GT championship twelfth and in the International GT Open 26. 2011 Makowiecki stayed in the FIA ​​GT1 world championship. For the Marc VDS Racing Team he took part in six out of ten events as a team-mate of Maxime Martin . The two won three qualification and one championship races. Makowiecki was eleventh in the world championship. In addition, he took for Hexis AMR in the complete season of the Blancpain Endurance Series in part. There he was tenth in the GT3 Pro Cup. In addition to two starts in the SPEED EuroSeries , Makowiecki took part in endurance races for Luxury Racing in a Ferrari 458 GTC and Ferrari 458 Italia . In 2012 Makowiecki returned to Hexis in the FIA ​​GT1 World Championship. His team works with McLaren during the season . His teammate became Stef Dusseldorp .
