Joel Miller (born May 10, 1988 in Hesperia , California ) is an American racing driver .

Career

Miller began his motorsport career in karting at the age of six and remained active in the sport until 2009. Among other things, he won the North American ICA Kart Championship in 2006. In 2004 he made his debut in formula racing and took part in a number of races in the Pacific F2000 championship until 2005. In 2006 he started two races in the Skip Barber National Championship . From 2007, Miller put his main focus on formula racing and became champion of the Skip Barber National Championship with five wins. He also took part in the autumn championship of the Formula Palmer Audi and finished the season in tenth place.

In 2008 Miller moved to JDC Motorsports in the Star Mazda Series . He won the opening race and finished six more races on the podium. With 406 to 422 points, he was runner-up behind John Edwards . 2009 Miller denied his second season for JDC Motorsports in the Star Mazda Series. He failed to win that season and finished fifth with three podium finishes, while teammate Adam Christodoulou won the championship title.

In 2010 Miller couldn't find a cockpit for a full season and he competed for two different teams in two Indy Lights races. He finished the season in 23rd place in the drivers' championship. In 2011 , Miller competed for Team E at the Indy Lights season opener . He also took part in a race in the US Mazda MX-5 Cup .
