Christina Nielsen (racing driver)
Christina Nielsen (born January 10, 1992 in Vedbæk ) is a Danish car racing driver . She is the daughter of racing driver Lars-Erik Nielsen .
Career
In 2007 Nielsen began her racing career in karting ; She stayed there up to and including 2009. In 2010 and 2011 she drove for ma-con Motorsport in the ADAC Formula Masters , however, could not hold its own against the competition.
In 2012 Nielsen competed for Farnbacher Racing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany and finished 5th in the amateur classification at the end of the season. You win at the Nürburgring and the Hockenheimring in the B class. With 9th overall at the Nürburgring, she achieved the best result that a woman has ever achieved in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany. Her vehicle was also a special feature. The young Dane's Porsche 911 GT3 Cup was designed by Leipzig media artist Martin Höfer and - like the driver herself and the entire racing team - was part of the spectacular media art project Media Art Car .
Christina Nielsen made history when she became the first woman ever to compete in the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Middle East in the 2012/13 season . She won the Michelin Silver Trophy at the second night race in Qatar, for which she was also awarded the title "man of the race". Overall, she finished 7th and was fourth in the Michelin Silver Trophy.
In 2013 Farnbacher Nielsen entered the ADAC GT Masters . At first she shared the cockpit with her compatriot Allan Simonsen , after whose fatal accident at the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2013 her partner switched between Sean Edwards , Nick Tandy and Kuba Giermaziak . At the end of the season, Nielsen won the gentlemen's classification for the best amateur driver.
Nielsen has been competing in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship since 2014 , where she won the GT Daytona class classification with her teammate Alessandro Balzan in 2016 and 2017 . This made Nielsen the first woman to win an all-season professional sports car championship in North America. In 2019, together with Katherine Legge and Simona de Silvestro , she was part of the only team in this series with an all-female driver pairing.
