Ana Beatriz
Ana "Bia" Beatriz Caselato Gomes de Figueiredo (born March 18, 1985 in São Paulo ) is a Brazilian automobile racing driver . Initially, she competed under the name Bia Figueiredo . Since 2008 she starts under the name Ana Beatriz . From 2010 to 2013 she was active in the IndyCar Series .
Career
Under the name Bia Figueiredo , she began her motorsport career in 1997 in karting , which she practiced until 2002. In 2003 she made her first experience in formula racing in the Brazilian Formula Renault . A year later she finished fifth in the Brazilian Formula Renault with eight podium finishes. In 2005 she won three races in the Brazilian Formula Renault and came third in the drivers' championship. After she had already started in a few races in the light class and the South American Formula 3 championship , in 2006 she drove a full season in the South American Formula 3 championship. She was on the podium five times and finished fifth overall.
After taking a break in 2007, she moved to North America for Indy Lights in 2008 . From now on she started under the name Ana Beatriz . She competed for Sam Schmidt Motorsports and won a race. At the end of the season she finished third overall behind her team-mate Richard Antinucci . In 2009 she stayed with Sam Schmidt Motorsports and was a favorite for the championship title. She did not live up to expectations and also had budget problems that forced her to skip two races. At the end of the season she finished eighth overall with a win. She was beaten by her teammates Wade Cunningham and James Hinchcliffe , who finished fourth and fifth, respectively.
In 2010 she competed for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in four races of the IndyCar Series , including the Indianapolis 500 . In the overall ranking she finished 30th. In 2011 Beatriz started for Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in the IndyCar Series. At the season opener, Beatriz broke her wrist after coming into contact with several vehicles in the early stages of the race. As a result, she had to pause the second race after an operation and was represented in this race by Simon Pagenaud . With an eleventh place as the best result, she finished the season in 21st place overall. Beatriz again did not find a full-time cockpit for 2012 . She took part in two races for Andretti Autosport , including the Indianapolis 500 . Her car was used in the Indianapolis 500 together with Conquest Racing . She was 29th overall.
In 2013 Beatriz received a part-time IndyCar cockpit at Dale Coyne Racing . She completed the first five races of the season, including her home race in São Paulo and the Indianapolis 500 . In the further course of the season she received the cockpit in two other races. Her best placement was a 14th place in Long Beach . In the drivers' championship she finished 29th again.
In 2014 she moved to Stock Car Brasil , where Beatriz has been driving ever since. In 2019 she took part in 5 races of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the side of Katherine Legge and Christina Nielsen .
