Pierre Thiriet (born April 20, 1989 in Épinal ) is a French racing driver . He will start in the European Le Mans Series in 2012 .

Career

Thiriet began his motorsport career in touring car racing in 2009 in the Mégane Trophy Eurocup . Starting for TDS Racing , he achieved two podium finishes and was fifth in the drivers' championship. In 2010 he stayed with TDS Racing in the Mégane Trophy Eurocup. Together with his team mate Nicky Catsburg , Thiriet drove for the championship title. He won two races and achieved nine podium finishes. He finally lost to Catsburg with 134 to 161 points and ended the season in second place.

In 2011 Thiriet switched to endurance racing. He started for TDS Racing in the LMP2 class of the Le Mans Series . Together with his teammates Mathias Beche and Jody Firth , he won the LMP2 classification twice. Thiriet finished the season together with his teammates in fourth place in the LMP2 classification. He also made his debut at the Le Mans 24-hour race that year . For Luxury Racing he started in the LMGTE Pro category. His team dropped out. In 2012 , Thiriet stayed with his team, which this season will compete as Thiriet by TDS Racing . The racing series has since been renamed the European Le Mans Series . He won the first race at Le Castellet together with his team-mate Beche. After this race, they both led the LMP2 classification, which is the highest category this season. He will also compete in the 2012 24 Hours of Le Mans for Thiriet by TDS Racing.
