The Ferrari 458 is a sports car from the Italian manufacturer Ferrari . The 458 is the successor to the Ferrari F430 and was presented to the public at the IAA in September 2009. Its successor is the Ferrari 488 .

In 2012, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, a total of 458 Ferrari 458s were newly registered in Germany with the same number, 252 of them by commercial owners.

Furnishing

The front of the rear axle arranged eight-cylinder - V - induction engine uses direct injection . The Ferrari 458 is only offered with the 7-speed dual clutch transmission 7DCL750 from the manufacturer Getrag , which is also used in the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG . It can be switched in automatic mode or, alternatively, manually in the sports program. It has dry sump lubrication and is combined with an active limited-slip differential . When filled with oil, it weighs 128 kg. The wheels are individually suspended, on double wishbones at the front, a multi-link axle is installed at the rear . The electronic vehicle dynamics control includes an anti-lock braking system , the electronic control of the locking effect of the differential gear and the traction control . The Ferrari is delivered on 20-inch light alloy wheels with 235/35 tires on the front and 295/35 on the rear axle.

The gross list price for the market launch was 197,000 euros without extras. The options for colors, seats and interior fittings have been increased again compared to the F430. The body in olive green and the brake calipers in gold are now available.

458 spider

Ferrari 458 Spider (2011)

In August 2011 Ferrari presented the Spider version of the 458. It differs from the 458 Italia model primarily in that it has an aluminum roof that can be retracted under the bonnet and opens or closes in 14 seconds.

The Ferrari 458 Spider is 155 kilograms heavier than the coupe version. The drive of the 458 Spider is identical to that of the 458 Italia.


458 Speciale

Ferrari 458 Speciale (2014)

On August 20, 2013 Ferrari announced in a press release ahead of the Frankfurt International Motor Show that the Ferrari 458 Speciale would be presented there on September 12.

The model is based on the 458 Italia, but is characterized by a decidedly sporty equipment. Externally, the front and rear aprons have been changed, with small air deflectors on the flanks in front of the rear wheel cutouts. The interior has no carpets and is partly clad with carbon fiber reinforced plastic and Alcantara. While it was possible to reduce the curb weight to 1290 kg, the engine output was increased from 4.5 l to 445 kW (605 hp) with the same displacement. This results in a ratio of 99 kW / l or 135 PS / l. The lap time on the in-house test track in Fiorano should be 1: 23.5 minutes. The 458 Speciale is the first vehicle to be equipped with a drift angle control. The Side Slip Angle Control System (SSC) recognized by evaluating (among other things) the driving time and drift angle and accelerator pedal position, whether the driver is on corner exit oversteer would accelerate out and regulates these driving condition despite activated dynamics control one.

At the 2014 Paris Motor Show , Ferrari presented the 458 Speciale Aperta, which is limited to 499 pieces. This is the convertible version of the 458 Speciale, whose technology has been completely adopted.

Special models

458 Italia China Special Edition

The China Special Edition based on the coupé version of the Ferrari 458 is a special model to mark Ferrari's 20th anniversary in China. Since 2012 was the year of the dragon in China, all 20 copies of the China Special Edition received an elaborate design consisting of the special paint finish Marco Polo Red and black and gold decorations.

Ferrari Sergio

The Ferrari Sergio is based on the Ferrari 458 Spider and retains its technical equipment. The special model is limited to just six copies and uses the latest version of the naturally aspirated V8 engine with a displacement of 4,497 cm³, which, like the 458 Speciale, develops 445 kW (605 hp). The shapes and surface treatments of the Ferrari Sergio take up the spirit of the Pininfarina creations of the 1960s and 1970s. Ferrari did not disclose the price for this Sergio. In August, the first Sergio produced went on sale on the luxury website JamesEdition.com. 4.3 million euros were requested.

SP12 EC

A Ferrari 458 was fitted with a special body for Eric Clapton . The design was inspired by the Ferrari 512 BB and created by Pininfarina . It is a unique piece.

Technical problems

According to a report by Spiegel Online , all 1248 vehicles in this series were recalled in September 2010. After several cars went up in flames, it was determined through tests that an adhesive used can ignite under extreme heat. In at least four cases since July 2010, cars were completely burned out for this reason.
