The Ferrari 575 is a sports car from Ferrari . In 2002 it replaced the 550 , from which it took over the slightly retouched body. However, the 575 got a larger engine with 5.75 instead of 5.5 l displacement, hence the new name. In addition, an M was added to the number for Modificato .
The Barchetta convertible variant was discontinued when the model changed to the 575. It was only in the last year of production (2005) of the 575 that Ferrari launched a small series called Superamerica . The Superamerica, limited to 559 copies, got a special roof construction made of carbon fiber and glass. It was attached to a fixed axis behind the headrests and could be rotated 180 degrees to the rear on the trunk lid. So the coupé turned into the Targa model . For this series, the engine was modified so that it developed 397 kW (540 hp) as in the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti .
The F1 gearbox has also been available as an option since 2003. The system, derived from Formula 1, enables shifting via paddles behind the steering wheel. Right is switched up and left is down. Depending on the selected setting program, comfort or sport, the switching times change from short to very short. With the semi-automatic transmission, the Maranello F1 accelerates around five tenths of a second faster than a manual gearbox.
Since 2004, the 575 has also been optionally available with a special chassis package that turned the car into a GTC , a G ran T urismo C ompetizione . This chassis design was specially tailored to racing use and was accompanied by an optics package that included e.g. B. included new mufflers, but left the production engine untouched.
The last 575 were manufactured in early 2006. Shortly afterwards the successor Ferrari 599 appeared .
