599 GTB

The 599 GTB Fiorano is named after the Fiorano test track , on which Ferrari develops its racing and road cars; GTB stands for G ran T urismo B erlinetta . The car was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2006.

The aluminum chassis is a new development, the engine is based on the twelve-cylinder Ferrari Enzo Ferrari , but with 456 kW (620 hp) it has less power. Thus the 599 GTB was the second most powerful Ferrari behind the Ferrari Enzo when it was launched. The 599 GTB continues the tradition of Ferrari's front-engined V12 sports cars and has a transaxle drive with the gearbox on the rear axle. The new traction control "F1 Trac" of the car was developed in cooperation with Michael Schumacher . The 599 GTB was predominantly delivered with Ferrari's "F1-SuperFast" gearshift, with which gearshifts are carried out in less than 0.1 seconds. Only 30 copies were delivered with a six-speed manual gearbox with the classic Ferrari shift gate. 20 of them went to North America and 10 stayed in Europe. The baffles on the C-pillar stabilize the car at high speeds, similar to a rear wing. The body of the car was created by the supplier Fontana .

Options include: a brake system with discs made of carbon-ceramic (standard since 2009), various carbon fiber decorative inserts for the interior and a Becker navigation system with an integrated car phone that supports the SIM Access Profile .

The American entrepreneur and passionate car collector Peter S. Kalikow settled in 2011 based on a Ferrari 599 GTB, a single piece with retractable roof customize the Ferrari Superamerica 45th

In 2012, according to the Federal Motor Transport Authority, 10 Ferrari 599 GTBs were newly registered in Germany, including 7 vehicles by commercial owners.

599 GTB HGTE

The sports model 599 HGTE

From model year 2009, Ferrari offered the Handling Gran Turismo Evoluzione equipment , which was intended to further improve driving behavior. The HGTE package included a sports suspension with stabilizers with a larger diameter as well as sports tires and a lowered body, HGTE-specific, forged 20-inch wheels and a sports exhaust system. In addition, the electronics for the HGTE vehicles have been changed: with sporty driving settings on the steering wheel button, the time for a gear change (under full load) has been reduced to 85 ms, the response of the accelerator pedal has been adapted and the electronically controlled shock absorbers have been made sportier. For the interior, the HGTE package included sports seats with Alcantara and equipment with parts made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP).

The HGTE package was only offered ex works for vehicles with F1 gearshift, initially for an extra charge of 23,000 EUR. To retrofit existing vehicles, Ferrari offered various kits for installation at dealers, mainly the wheels and the exhaust system.

599XX

Ferrari 599XX Evo

The 599XX presented at the Geneva Motor Show 2009 is a racing version of the 599 GTB. The carriage provides 537 kW (730 hp) at 9000 min -1 and is reduced in weight by the use of body parts made of CFRP, special alloys in the engine block and a ceramic brake system. A new shift setup of the transmission enables gear changes in times of up to 60 milliseconds. The body has a more aerodynamic shape, also on the underside, so that a contact pressure of 280 kg at 200 km / h and 630 kg at 300 km / h is developed. The car also runs on 295/67-R19 front and 315/71-R19 rear tires on 11 * 19J rims at the front and 12 * 19J at the rear.

In the trunk of the Ferrari 599XX there is a system for suctioning off the boundary layer under the car, called Active Flow. For this purpose, fans suck the turbulent (unevenly) flowing boundary layer of the air flowing under the vehicle through a porous layer before it reaches the diffuser . Because this prevents the air flow from being torn off, the diffuser slope can now be more than the maximum possible 7 °, so that a greater contact pressure is generated with the same air resistance. The sucked in air is discharged through the tail light dummy. In order to reduce turbulence during outflow, the air flow is brought to a vibration of 800 Hz by piezo- controlled membranes, which further lowers the drag coefficient (C w value).

The price of the vehicle is over a million dollars and the small series is limited to 30 copies, which will be given to selected customers.

In December 2011 Ferrari presented a number of technical improvements. This development contains many new aerodynamic elements, but the output has also been increased by 20 to 750 hp at 9000 rpm. This enabled the lap time on the home track in Fiorano to be reduced from 1 min. 17 sec. To 1 min. 15 sec.

599 GTO

The special model 599 GTO

On April 8, 2010 Ferrari presented the 599 GTO (for Gran Turismo Omologato ), a special edition of the 599 limited to 599 copies. The 599 GTO is based on the Ferrari 599XX presented in 2009 and, according to the company, is the fastest road Ferrari to date. The car was shown for the first time at Auto China at the end of April 2010 in Beijing .

The strongly perforated body makes the 599 GTO distinctive. New spoilers at the front and a new diffuser at the rear provide more downforce. The body of the GTO stands out from the GTB mainly because of the additional ventilation openings. Around the wheel arches and on the bonnet, these cooling air openings should effectively dissipate the heat from the brakes and the engine. The automated F1 six-speed gearbox, which should allow gear changes in just 60 milliseconds, has also been adopted from the 599XX. The adaptive chassis has stronger stabilizers, shorter springs and electronic networking with the driving dynamics systems.

The car has a V12 engine with a displacement of six liters and an output of 493 kW (670 hp) and, according to the manufacturer, should enable acceleration from zero to 100 km / h in 3.35 seconds and a top speed of more than 335 km / h. The maximum torque is 620 Nm. The use of numerous lightweight components (thinner panes and thinner aluminum sheet) reduces the curb weight to 1495 kilograms, which results in a power-to-weight ratio of only 2.23 kg / hp. Ferrari specifies the average consumption of the Euro 5 engine as 17.5 liters of premium petrol, with CO 2 emissions of 411 g / km.

SA Aperta

Ferrari 599 SA Aperta

Based on the 599 GTO, the SA Aperta special model was presented at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. The name of the roadster, which is only equipped with an emergency roof, pays homage to Sergio and Andrea Pininfarina , the founders of the design company of the same name. To celebrate the 80th birthday of this company, the special model was limited to 80 copies.

The technology hardly differs from that of the closed GTO; only the chassis has been reinforced. Because of the missing roof, the air resistance is higher, which reduces the top speed by 10 km / h, the acceleration to 100 km / h takes 0.25 seconds longer.
