Ferrari P4 / 5

The Ferrari P4 / 5 (also referred to as the Ferrari P4 / 5 by Pininfarina ) is a sports car manufactured by Ferrari and Pininfarina . The car is considered a one-off and was financed by US billionaire James Glickenhaus .

In 2009 Glickenhaus started the Project P 4/5 Competizione and had a racing car based on a Ferrari 430 Scuderia developed for the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring , also a one-off.

Glickenhaus, who already owns a Ferrari 330P4 , commissioned Pininfarina to re-issue the car for around three million dollars. Based on the last not yet registered Ferrari Enzo for the USA, Glickenhaus and Pininfarina boss Andrea Pininfarina planned a unique specimen that was to be modeled on the 330P4.

Visually, the P4 / 5 is reminiscent of the original front of the 330P4 with the center bar in the radiator mouth, the flaps on the sides and the two separate air ducts as well as the opening in the front end. On the flanks, the cooling air ducts in front of the rear wheels were taken from the original. The glass dome above the passengers is also modeled on that of the 330P4. In the rear area, the sharp tear-off edges and the round taillights were designed based on the 330P4. In total, over 200 parts were specially made for the P4 / 5.

The 4.63 meter long, 2.04 meter wide and 1.12 meter high body was made entirely of carbon produced. The engine is a twelve-cylinder V-engine with a displacement of six liters, an output of 485 kW (660 hp) and a torque of 657 Nm. The tires have a size of 255/35 at the front and 335/30 at the rear. The rims have a size of 20 inches.

P 4/5 Competizione in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring 2011

From autumn 2009 a one-off model called the P 4/5 Competizione was developed for the 24-hour race on the Nürburgring . Ferrari did not participate in the production; instead, the Italian sports car manufacturers LM Gianetti, Pro.To and the racing team N.technology developed the vehicle. For this purpose, a Ferrari 430 Scuderia acquired from Glickenhaus was provided with the 4.0-liter V8 engine, the sequential six-speed gearbox and other technical components of a Ferrari F430 GT2 from Michelotto and a body made of carbon fiber-reinforced plastic reminiscent of the Ferrari 330P4. The vehicle entered the 24-hour race in 2011 as N.technology P 4/5 Competizione and, after technical problems, came in 39th out of 135 rated participants.

In 2012 aerodynamic changes were made to the front, underbody and rear wing; The vehicle was also equipped with an electric KERS from Magneti Marelli . The 25 kg electric motor achieves an output of 30 kW. By revising the engine, the output has been increased to 414 kW (563 hp). The further developed vehicle started again with starting number 1 and in the end - despite a KERS defect and a fire during a pit stop - finished 12th.

Since the vehicle was built on the chassis of a F430 Scuderia with US approval, this vehicle is approved for road traffic there. Since its first public appearance, the car has had the registration number "P 45 C" of the US state New York .
