Auto Avio Costruzioni (AAC) was an Italian company founded by Enzo Ferrari around 1938 in Modena , which was engaged in the construction of machine tools and the production of parts for aviation engines.

Development history

Ferrari, which until 1938 had taken over the works operations of Alfa Romeo with its Scuderia Ferrari , was contractually prohibited for a period of four years from building competing racing vehicles.

Nevertheless, Alberto Massimino designed an open sports two- seater at AAC for the Mille Miglia in 1940 , the AAC 815 with a one-and-a-half-liter in-line eight-cylinder engine (54 kW / 73 hp), box frame and body from Carrozzeria Touring . The 625 kg Spider was fast at 170 km / h. Two copies were built and used at the 1940 Brescia Grand Prix, but without success, both vehicles failed with engine failure. One of them still exists today.
