Ferrari 195 Sport Touring Berlinetta Le Mans
The Ferrari 195 Sport Touring Berlinetta Le Mans (also referred to as the Ferrari 195S Berlinetta Touring Le Mans in some publications ) was a one-off that was presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1950.
Development history
Aurelio Lampredi had by Gioacchino Colombo designed and Ferrari 166mm used V12 engine now developed. With a bore enlarged to 65 mm, the displacement was increased to 2341 cm³. The engine now developed 180 hp at 7000 rpm and had three Weber twin carburettors . Touring gave the vehicle the typical shape of the Carrozzeria with a long bonnet, round fenders and a short, round rear.
Racing history
At the 17th Mille Miglia , which took place on April 22nd and 23rd, 1950 , the 22-year-old Gianni Marzotto drove the 195 Sport Touring for the Scuderia . Gianni was the youngest of the Marzotto brothers, who all competed in the Mille Miglia. After a third of the distance, Luigi Villoresi was still leading the race in a 3.3-liter Barchetta, but it broke down in Rome with a clutch damage before half-time. At the finish in Brescia, Marzotto won with the 195 Sport Touring after a driving time of 13 hours and 39 minutes.
At the 24 Hours of Le Mans , Raymond Sommer and Dorino Serafini drove the 195 Sport Touring, which is on the starting lists as the 195S. Sommer led the first hours of the race, but had to retire after 82 laps with engine failure.
The car has a metallic blue paint that is atypical for a Ferrari and is still in its original condition today.
