The Ferrari 412T1 was a single-seater the Scuderia Ferrari , the 1994 in the Formula 1 World Championship was used.
designation
The designation 412T1 is derived from the number of valves per cylinder (4), 12 stands for the number of cylinders in the engine. The T refers to the transversely installed gear.
Painting and sponsorship
The 412T1 was painted in the classic Rosso Corsa . The largest sponsor of Scuderia Ferrari was the tobacco company Philip Morris International , which advertised its Marlboro cigarette brand on the rear wing and on the side of the engine cover. Other major donors were consumer electronics maker Pioneer and petroleum company Agip .
driver
As in the previous year, Jean Alesi and Gerhard Berger were the regular drivers at Scuderia Ferrari. The injured Alesi was replaced by Nicola Larini for the Pacific and San Marino Grand Prix .
Technology and success
After the ban on all electronic driving aids for 1994 was announced in 1993, Ferrari no longer developed the previous year's model F93A in favor of the F412T1. In particular, the ban on active suspension helped the Scuderia, as active suspension did not work reliably in the previous year.
The 412T1 was powered by the twelve-cylinder Tipo 041 engine , which was replaced from the San Marino Grand Prix by the Tipo 043, which developed more than 800 hp. The higher nose of the 412T1 was already used on the predecessor F93A and, contrary to the general trend, was retained. Only Benetton also tried this solution. However, the Benetton's nose was significantly higher. The basic idea of the high nose originated in 1990 when the Tyrrell team first presented this shape on 019 .
After the unsuccessful preseason, Ferrari was again significantly more competitive. With Gerhard Berger's victory in Germany, a 57-race dry spell ended without a win for Ferrari. A Scuderia pilot stood on the podium 10 times in total. Nevertheless, the 412T1 was an unreliable racing car for long stretches, which often prevented a better result. At the end of the season, Ferrari was able to conquer third place in the constructors' championship with 71 world championship points, behind Williams-Renault and Benetton-Ford.
